Twelve months in the planning and a million dollar budget has seen the ugly duckling of the Bathurst pub scene – The Park Hotel reinvented into one of the classiest and sleekest licensed premises in town – The George.
Matt Harrowsmith sat down the Bathurst City Life to discuss the development.
Harrowsmith joined fellow local businessmen Andrew Dunshea and Ryan Cooney to buy the premises and Matt explained the finished product was better than they could have expected.
“We had a rough idea of the style we were looking for but entrusted local interior designer; (the late) Anthony Ward to bring that vision to life,” Matt explained.
“We only really had three basic requirements when we started – great seating, subway tiles and pressed metal panels, how Anthony interpreted that was entirely up to him.”
Matt said they wanted to keep the refurbishment as local as they could and said using Pressed Tin Panels® products was one of the first choices of supplier.
“They have such a great product and were really happy to work with us on a patchwork design behind the bar which was unique and looks fantastic now it is finished.”
Matt said the panels fit in perfectly with the décor of the facility – plus the team at Pressed Tin Panels®
“bent over backwards to assist in making our vision a reality.”
